Biography

I am originally from Great Falls, Montana, where the rugged landscapes and expansive wilderness have profoundly shaped my artistic vision. Growing up, my connection to nature was nurtured by skiing down snow-capped mountains and finding peace by riverside retreats. These experiences deeply inform my work, which continues to evolve in Baltimore, where I navigate the dynamic energy of an urban environment while exploring the complexities of identity through multi-media.

My artistic journey is rooted in a rich family tradition of creativity. My grandmother, a celebrated local artist in Great Falls, and my father, a skilled graphic designer, instilled in me an appreciation for the transformative power of art. This familial influence, curiosity, and determination drive me to push the boundaries of artistic expression. I explore personal and collective narratives by weaving together fabric, steel, found objects, and clay to create intricate and thought-provoking works.

I hold a BFA from the University of Montana, where both triumphs and challenges marked my academic journey. The transition from the smaller University of Montana Western to the larger University of Montana campus was daunting, and navigating dyslexia added layers of complexity to my experience. These challenges, however, fueled my resilience and perseverance, infusing my art with themes of transformation. I draw deeply from my experiences, channeling the triumphs and struggles of navigating the world through a female lens, infusing my creations with authenticity and strength.

My commitment to community service extends beyond the studio. Volunteering with Special Olympics and being recognized with a national award for my efforts have been deeply fulfilling experiences. They have broadened my perspective and inspired me to use my art as a platform to amplify marginalized voices and foster conversations about inclusivity and acceptance. Through my work, I strive to create pieces that engage viewers and encourage them to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery and introspection, contributing to the ever-evolving tapestry of identity.
